PSHE at Wellesley
Learning to care for ourselves, each other and the world around us.
Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education is a vital part of our school curriculum. It helps children develop the knowledge, skills and values they need to feel confident, safe and well-prepared for life both now and as they grow.
At Wellesley, we use a blend of Jigsaw PSHE, and PSHE Association resources to create an engaging and age-appropriate curriculum. Jigsaw provides a whole-school, progressive programme covering:
- Relationships and Health Education (in line with statutory guidance)
- Emotional literacy and social skills
- Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
Our assemblies link closely with PSHE themes, ensuring children see the values we teach in action across the whole school. We also celebrate key awareness days, national and global events (such as Anti-Bullying Week, Children’s Mental Health Week, Parliament week, Safter Internet Day and Earth Day), which help children connect their learning to the wider world and current issues.
The six Jigsaw units, known as Puzzles, are explored by every year group at the same time, with age-appropriate learning at each stage:
- Being Me in My World
- Celebrating Differences
- Dreams and Goals
- Healthy Me
- Relationships
- Changing Me
Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is taught as part of PSHE curriculum and follows the Department for Education’s statutory guidance. Our approach is always age-appropriate and designed to give children the knowledge they need to make safe and informed choices.
